Help and support

Brick has a help library, a support team, a feedback box, and a built-in assistant. This page says where each one is and what it is for.

Open the Help drawer#

Click the Help button at the top right of any page, click the ? icon in the row of small icons at the bottom of the sidebar, or press ? when no text box is active. A panel slides in on the right. It has an Ask a question box at the top, five Suggested articles, and three links at the bottom: Help center, Contact support, and Keyboard shortcuts.

Type a question in the box and press Enter. The drawer closes and Ask Brick answers it. Click a suggested article to read it in a new tab. Help center opens the full help library at /help in a new tab, where you can search every article. Keyboard shortcuts opens the list of shortcuts. Press Esc or click outside the drawer to close it.

Contact support#

Click the life-buoy icon in the row of small icons at the bottom of the sidebar. It opens the panel on the right in Support mode, where you write to the Brick team. You can also get there from Contact support at the bottom of the Help drawer, or from the Contact Support action in the ⌘K search.

The panel has two modes, switched by the small pill at the bottom of it: Ask Brick and Support. A badge on the Support side tells you how many replies are waiting. The same number shows on the Help button and on the drawer's Contact support row, and a dot shows on the life-buoy.

Write your message in plain text. You can paste a screenshot with ⌘V or drag files in. They show as chips above the box and go with the message. A file over 10 MB, a type Brick cannot take, or a sixth file on one message is refused with an error message. There is also a microphone button if you would rather talk than type.

When something goes wrong, an error message often carries its own Contact support button. Use it: it fills in what broke for you.

If a reply is waiting when you open support, Brick takes you straight to that conversation. Otherwise it starts a new one.

Your support conversations#

Every conversation stays repliable forever. If the team answered you three weeks ago, reply on that thread. Starting a new conversation is always something you choose to do, never something that happens because you replied late. To start one, click the New conversation button in the panel header, or the New conversation row at the bottom of the history list.

The Conversation history button in the panel header, a clock icon, lists everything you have ever raised, with a search box. Unread threads are bold.

Brick names each conversation for you from your first message. Rename it if you like: double-click the title, or click the ⋯ button and then Rename. A name you set is never overwritten. Renaming is the only thing you can do to a conversation: there is no delete and no status to track.

Every reply from the Brick side shows under one name, Brick support. Your history follows your account, so it survives signing out and moving to another computer.

If you are signed out, the sign-in page, the sign-up page, and the welcome steps each have their own Contact support link. It asks for your email address, and the answer comes back to you by email. A conversation raised that way is not tied to your account, so it will not appear in your in-app history.

Submit feedback#

The Submit feedback icon sits beside support at the bottom of the sidebar. It opens a box for freeform text: no categories, nothing to fill in.

Feedback is one-way on purpose: it goes to the team and no reply comes back. When you need an answer, use support instead.

See what's new#

Click the megaphone icon at the bottom of the sidebar, to the right of Submit feedback, or click your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar and then Changelog. Both open the changelog at /changelog in a new tab. It lists every change to Brick, newest first. You can also ask Ask Brick what is new, and it answers from the changelog with a card for each post.

Ask Brick#

Ask Brick is the assistant built into Brick. Open it with the Ask Brick button at the top right of any page, or press ⌘K, press Tab to switch to Ask, type your question, and press Enter. The Ask a question box in the Help drawer does the same.

Ask it about your own data in plain language: your contacts, deals, tasks, notes and lists. It answers with real Brick cards you can click through to the record.

Ask it how Brick works, too. Ask Brick searches the help articles and answers from them. When the answer comes from one article, it shows a card that opens that article.

Ask Brick can also make changes: create a contact, update a deal, add a task. Every change first appears as a card showing exactly what it proposes, which you can edit before you press the button. On a card with several fields, untick a field to leave it out. Nothing is written until you confirm it, and Discard drops the change. Ask Brick cannot delete your contacts, deals, tasks or notes. It can delete a list, and only after you confirm on a card.

The short version: Ask Brick answers questions about your data and about how Brick works. Brick support puts you in touch with a person.
