Activity

Every contact and every deal has an Activity tab. It is one stream of everything that has happened with that record, newest first, and every row names who did it.

Read the stream#

A row carries an avatar, then a sentence that starts with who did it: your own name, the client's name, someone else named on an email who is not one of your contacts, or Brick for an action Brick performed on its own. Contacts, deals, listings and lists inside a sentence are pills. Click a pill to open that record.

The stream covers emails, calls, texts, meetings, notes, tasks, list membership, listing activity, delivery problems and unsubscribes. It also covers the record itself: when it was created, when you change one of its attributes, and when you link or unlink a related record. A save that changes several attributes is one row, and it says how many.

Rows sit under date headers. The newest group is This week, then a month name for each earlier month of this year, then the year and its months.

Load more at the bottom adds the next page. There is no page count and no total.

What is coming up#

Above the stream, on the Activity tab, a pinned Upcoming block has an amber heading. It shows up to five things that have not happened yet:

• future meetings in your calendar,
• open tasks due today or later,
• a call, text or meeting you logged with a future date.

The stream holds the past only, so a showing booked for next week never appears above what already happened.

The Upcoming block shows only while nothing is narrowed. If you search the feed, turn a facet off, or set a date range, Brick hides it until you clear the narrowing.

Narrow the feed#

Three controls sit in the header, beside the Activity heading.

• All time opens the date filter. Pick a preset, Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 12 months, or Custom range....
• View settings opens ten switches under Visible activity: Email, Calls, Texts, Meetings, Notes, Tasks, Lists, Record changes, Listing activity and Notifications. Turn one off to drop those rows. Turn them all off and the feed says so.
• Search activity matches what was written: email subjects, meeting titles and locations, the messages clients send you, your notes and tasks, call summaries and transcripts, and the summary on anything you logged by hand. It does not read email bodies, so use Gmail for those. Type a street address or an MLS number to find the listings that were sent, viewed, or asked about.

Narrowing is for this visit only. Brick does not save it.

The Overview tab#

Overview shows the newest eight rows of Activity in a block of its own. Once there are more than eight, View all opens the full tab. The Upcoming block is not in this preview.

The last block on Overview, Listings activity, holds listing activity alone: the listings your clients viewed, asked about, or requested a showing on.

The tab for one channel#

A contact's tab strip is Overview, Activity, Emails, Calls, Texts, Meetings, Tasks, Notes and Listings. A deal has the same strip without Calls and Listings.

Emails, Calls, Texts and Meetings carry a count, capped at "100+". Tasks and Notes carry a plain count. Overview, Activity and Listings carry none, and neither does a deal's Texts tab.

Emails, Calls, Texts and Meetings each hold one channel in full, where Activity mixes them together.

Emails and Meetings carry their own search box and date filter, separate from the Activity tab's. Email search reads subjects only, not body text. Meeting search reads titles, locations and the summary on a logged meeting, not attendee names.

How a logged activity reads#

A call, text or meeting you recorded by hand (Log a call, text, or meeting) sits beside the ones Brick captured itself.

In Activity the sentence says who logged it: your name, then "logged a call with", then the contacts on it. Your summary sits on the line under it. The row carries no badge, because the sentence already says it was logged. It narrows under Calls, Texts or Meetings with the rows Brick captured.

In the Calls and Meetings tabs the row reads Logged call with or Logged meeting with, then the same contacts. Brick merges it into the tab by the date it happened, not the date you entered it.

The Texts tab is a message thread, and a logged text belongs to no thread. Brick puts logged texts in a Logged texts list above the thread. The list shows the newest three, and Show all 7 (with however many you have) opens the rest. Show fewer closes it again.

Point at any of these rows and an Activity options button (⋮) appears at its right, with Edit and Delete in its menu.

In Activity only a logged row carries that menu. The rest of the feed is Brick's own record of what happened, so there is nothing there to edit. The Calls tab is different: a real call has its own Call options menu, holding Copy link and Delete call.
