See your net commission on every deal

Every deal now shows your commission from the gross amount to the money you keep. You list the deductions, and Brick calculates the net commission and the tax.

Deductions apply in order#

Open a deal and click the pencil in the Commission section. Add each deduction: a referral fee, your brokerage split, a team split, a franchise fee, a transaction fee, or another cost with its own label. Each row is a dollar amount ($), a percentage of the gross commission (%), or a percentage of what is left after the rows above it (↳%).

The order changes the money. On the deal in the image, the brokerage takes 20% of a $27,500.00 gross commission, which is $5,500.00. The team split at ↳10% takes its share of what the brokerage left, which is $2,200.00. The net commission is $19,800.00.

Brick calculates tax on the net commission. When the deductions are more than the gross commission, Brick shows the negative net in red instead of hiding it.

Set up your splits once#

A preset is a set of deductions with a name, such as your brokerage split. Create presets in Settings → Commission. Select one under Applies to new deals, and Brick adds its deductions to each deal you create. To use a preset on a deal you already have, click Add from preset in the deal's Commission window.

Brick copies a preset onto a deal. When you change the preset later, the deals that used it keep their deductions. The tax rate on that page also applies only to new deals.

Net commission on the table and the board#

The Deals table shows Gross Commission and Net Commission columns, and each board card shows the net commission. You can filter and sort by each commission figure.

A board column can also end in a footer. Open Card settings, and under Column footer pick a total, an average, the lowest or the highest value of a number attribute. In the image, the Listed column shows an Average Net Commission of $17,477.50 for its two deals. Each view keeps its own footer, and Contacts boards have the same footer.

Deductions from Ask Brick#

When Ask Brick creates a deal, its confirmation card has a Deductions row. The row holds the deductions of the preset that applies to new deals, and you can change them before you click Create. Ask Brick cannot change the deductions on a deal that already exists. It cannot read the rows already on a deal, so a change to one row could delete the others. Edit them in the deal's Commission section.
