Ask a question, get an answer from the help docs
You can now ask Brick a question in your own words and get an answer taken from its help articles. Press ? on any screen, type the question, and Brick answers from the documentation rather than from its own memory. It shows you the article it used.
The articles themselves live at /help, and you can read or search them there.
The Help button, or ?#
The circled ? sits to the left of Ask Brick in the header. Click it, or press ? anywhere in the app, and a panel opens down the right-hand side.
It does not take the app away from you. No dimmed background, no trapped cursor: the panel floats, you keep working behind it, and Esc or a click outside closes it.
Inside are three things: a field to ask a question, five suggested articles, and a footer with Help center, Contact support and Keyboard shortcuts. Support has not moved. The old life-buoy button became this Help button, and reaching a human is one row down, unread badge and all.
Asking hands the question to Ask Brick#
Type into the field and press Enter. The drawer closes and Ask Brick opens on a new chat with your question already sent.
The drawer answers nothing itself, deliberately. Two assistants in one app that give different answers to the same question is worse than one assistant you can find from anywhere.
Search shows you the sentence that matched#
On any /help page, ⌘K opens the article search. So does the search box on the landing page, and the Search pill at the top of the sidebar.
Each result is two lines: the article title, then the passage that matched, with your words marked in blue. You can tell which article answers your question before you open it.
A word matches from its start. attach finds "attachment" and "attachments". It does not fire in the middle of a word, so on never matches "conversation". Common words such as "how" and "a" are dropped from the query.
Opening a result takes you to the section that passage came from, not to the top of the article.
An empty search lists every article, so the same box doubles as a way to browse. Ask Brick searches the same articles the same way, so the article it cites is the one you would have found yourself.
