New shortcut: Select everything with ⌘+A or Ctrl+A

Selection now works the same way on every list in Brick, takes one keystroke, and, in the Inbox, can reach past the rows on screen to every conversation a view matches.

⌘+A takes the surface#

⌘+A on a Mac, Ctrl+A on Windows, selects everything loaded on whatever list owns the page: Contacts, Deals, Tasks, Lists, the feed, and the Inbox. It only ever selects. Pressing it twice does not give the selection back, because no tool a realtor already knows behaves that way. Escape and the bar's ✕ are the clears.

It stays out of the way where it should. It does not fire while you are typing, while a modal owns the keyboard, or, in the Inbox, while a conversation is open, where ⌘+A selects the message text you are reading.

Boards select too#

Contacts and Deals boards take a selection now. Hover a card for its checkbox, or press x on the focused card. Enter still opens the record on a board, the way it always has. A board's keymap is not the grid's.

Every conversation in a view#

Once every loaded conversation is selected and more pages match, a banner offers "Select all N in this view". Taking it acts on the whole matching set on the server, not on the ids your browser happens to be holding. So closing 312 conversations closes the same 312 the count promised.

The offer is clickable before the count finishes resolving; a shimmer stands in for the number rather than showing one that would be wrong. Touching any single row drops back to a plain selection.

One action list per entity#

A table and its board now offer exactly the same bulk actions, from one definition. Nothing is listed that cannot run: an action without an implementation is removed, not greyed out.
